Hurricane Ivan

On September 17, 2004, the remnants of Hurricane Ivan dumped up to eight inches of rain across southwestern Pennsylvania in 24 hours, causing one of the largest floods in the Pittsburgh region’s history.  Massive flooding damaged or destroyed countless homes and businesses, and closed hundreds of roadways.  3 Rivers Wet Weather’s calibrated radar rainfall system captured and measured the widespread differences in rainfall across Allegheny County.

See the rainfall calculated by 3RWW’s real-time rainfall system.
